We completed the Sussex Hospices Trail on 24th May, having started it on 4th November 2020. We started from home, here at Shoreham-by-Sea and finished at Crowhurst.
Having previously completed all the Long Distance Paths in Sussex, we were looking for a new challenge and were pleased to come across the Sussex Hospices Trail. It was on our doorstep and fitted in well with our own policy of using public transport to or from the beginning or end of a walk . Also, with Covid restrictions in place, we were able to treat it as our ‘pandemic project’.
We found some of the section lengths a bit too long for us (David is 84 and Lyn is 69!) so split some of them down into shorter days. It therefore took us about 40 separate days’ walking to complete the route.
We thought that both the route and the website were excellent and great credit is due to the designers and planners who put it together. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk and attach a photo of ourselves on our last section near St. Leonards-on-Sea. We very much appreciate the work you are doing and will be making a donation to our local hospice, St. Barnabas.
